Oracle 10 RMAN new feature -- Block change tracking

Block change tracking
======================

1. Enable block change tracking

sqlplus /nolog
connect / as sysdba
alter database enable block change tracking using file
'/ora01/orabkup/GENQ/.temp_toy10g/oracle/admin/TOY10G/toy10g_block_track
.log';

2. To verify the status of block change tracking, use this SELECT
command:
SQL> select filename, status, bytes from v$block_change_tracking;

system@TOY10G> select filename, status, bytes from
v$block_change_tracking;

FILENAME
------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------
STATUS BYTES
---------- ----------
/ora01/orabkup/GENQ/.temp_toy10g/oracle/admin/TOY10G/toy10g_block_track.
log
ENABLED 11599872

3. To disable block change tracking, enter this command:
SQL> alter database disable block change tracking;

system@TOY10G> select filename, status, bytes from
v$block_change_tracking;

FILENAME
------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------
STATUS BYTES
---------- ----------

DISABLED
